HIROSHIMA NAKA-KU (広島)

Naka means center, then Hiroshima Naka-ku is the center of Hiroshima, where we live.

This is our building's street, and it takes less than 10 minuts to get to the comercial area of the city.

The streets are always very clean and there are a lot of signals on the floor indicating that it is forbidden to smoke and to litter. Everybody respects it!!!! You can walk safety because you will never step on a sweet, gum or dog's shit......

One of the first things that you realize in Japan is the number of electric cables hanging everywhere. At the begining you think that how it is possible that a advanced country like Japan can have this mess? After that you know that it is because of the earthquakes, the can't put them underground. There are so many!!!!!

At the end of the street appears the comercial zone. It is full of shops and department stores are so close one from each other!!!!. For the people who like to go shopping it is the paradise!!!!!!!!! It is already more than one year here and we still discover new department stores!!!!!

The center of this zone is HONDORI. There are severa streets covered and the main one is Hondori, all are full of shops, so it is perfect for go shopping in a rainy day.....

If you want to get new costumers for your restaurant, shop,....you just need to put somebody in the middle of the street with the official uniform hanging an advertisment all the day and shouting the special price for the day, the menu or whatever..... This is quite a common job in Japan.

Not only Hondori, everywhere in the city you can find a lot of places where you can play and enjoy many kind of games. It is very funny, brightly and loudly!!!

This is our prefered game machine!!! You have to play the drumms depending of the pictures that appear in the screen..... There are all kind of music. Our prefered song is from a japanese cartoons: Doraemon !!!!!

There is another comercial zone called SHAREO. There are some streets under the city full of shops. They are under the main streets from the city.

NAGAREKAWA. During the evening-night is when you can see Nagarekawa's life, it is full of pubs, restaurants and shops opened 24 houres. No matter how late it is, you always can find a japanese place to eat rice, noodles or whatever you want. It is also the neighbourhood of the mafia, so it is the most safety place from Hiroshima!!!!!!!!1!

This is the stadium of HIROSHIMA TOYO CARP, from the professionaal baseball team from Hiroshima. On April starts the league, so we are ready to go!!!!!!

One of the most used public transport in the city is the streetcar. You can find it along the main streets, you can go to the train station, to the seaport or Mijayima as a final/farest destination. Hiroshima city buys old streetcars over the world and after reparing them they put it again on the street. It is nice how it looks like this modern street with these old streetcars.

Some more pictures of the center ...

Before you cros the street you have to raise the yellow flag to make more easy for the car driver's to see you!!!!!! OK.... it is just for the children......
